Washington Dulles International Airport (IATA: IAD, ICAO: KIAD, FAA LID: IAD) is in the eastern United States, located in Loudoun and Fairfax counties in Virginia. The airport is 26 miles (42 km) west of downtown Washington, D.C.
Dulles is one of the three major airports in the larger Baltimore–Washington metropolitan area along with Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI / KBWI). The airport holds the record of catering to the highest number of international traffic in the Mid-Atlantic region outside the New York metropolitan area.
Public Transport Connectivity
Dulles is 7 miles away from the Wiehle Avenue Metrorail Station. Between the airport and Metrorail station, nonstop bus service is available with Silver Line Express Bus. Alternatively, from the Metrorail, you may take Washington Flyer Express bus service. Washington Flyer Taxicabs also serve the area. You have choices as regular service or nonstop service. For the latter, advance reservation is required. For the regular service, follow the signs for Ground Transportation or Taxi to the lower level of the Terminal, DOWN the ramp to Door 2 or Door 6). A customer service representative is available 24-hours a day. Non-Washington Flyer cab companies are prohibited from soliciting passengers for pick up on airport property
Terminals and Lounges Information
The airport’s terminal complex consists of a main terminal and two midfield terminal buildings: Concourses A/B and C/D. The complex features 123 gates and 16 hardstand locations from which passengers can board or disembark using the airport’s plane mate vehicles.
