Yes. Travelers from certain countries, including the USA, can not board a flight to France unless they present “results of a negative virology COVID-19 test (a PCR test for example), carried out less than 72 hours before the flight”.
4. Are U.S. travelers required to quarantine in France?
Foreign nationals arriving in France from outside certain European countries and certain other excepted countries are subject to a 2-week quarantine “at a location of their choice or, where appropriate, in special accommodation”.
List of excepted countries: Member States of the European Union, Andorra, Australia, Canada, Georgia, the Holy See, Iceland, Japan, Liechtenstein, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Rwanda, San Marino, South Korea, Switzerland, Thailand, Tunisia, the United Kingdom and Uruguay.
5. What if I develop COVID-19 symptoms on arrival in France?
Travelers with COVID-19 symptoms have to undergo PCR tests at designated laboratories in France. The COVID-19 test cost (70 and 80 euros) has to be borne by travelers, unless he/she is covered by French Health insurance (“Sécurité Sociale”). Travellers are asked to show civic responsibility and to follow the health precautions recommended by the authorities.
6. How safe is to visit Paris as far as Covid-19 is concerned?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 3- Warning that clearly states citizens to Avoid Nonessential Travel to France.
However, the situation has improved much in the country. Bi-weekly confirmed cases as of September 4 is 1,078.03. The national transmission rate stands between 3 and 5 percent. Daily tests per million in France was recorded as 1824 on August 28, which is higher than the daily test conducted/per million by Canada and lower than the USA.
7. Is travel to France restricted?
The latest travel advisory by The Department of State issued on August 06, 2020, Travel Advisory Level 3 (Reconsider Travel). It advises travelers to reconsider travel to France due to COVID-19. Exercise increased caution in France due to terrorism and civil unrest.
