The latest order dated August 12, 2020 from the Health Minister, Roberto Speranza, makes it necessary for all travelers entering Italy who, in the previous fourteen days, have stayed at or travelled through Croatia, Greece, Malta or Spain, notwithstanding the provisions provided for by Prime Ministerial Decree dated 7 August 2020 to adhere to the following norms.

  1. a) Submit a certificate of having undergone, within 72 hours prior to entering Italy, a molecular or antigen test, performed by swab, with a negative result;
  2. b) obligation to undergo a molecular or antigen test, to be performed by swab, at the time of arrival at the airport (during the hours of 09:00 and 18:00, as established by the Lazio Region), or within 48 hours after entering Italy at the reference local health authority.

These people, including those who are asymptomatic, are required to immediately report their entry into Italy to the Prevention Department of the competent regional health authority.

It’s important for travlers to maintain social distancing of at least one meter to avoid crowds when queuing in front of check-in desks, at security, at the boarding gates and at passport control, at bars and restaurants.

  • If you want to cancel your ticket, and do not wish to take a voucher a refund of the purchased ticket or its residual value will be issued as per the fare conditions.

For tickets purchased between 1 August and 30 September 2020 for flights until 31 July 2021

  • A flight change (rebooking or change of destination), with possible fare integration, to travel within one year of the date of the original flight.
  • A refund of the purchased ticket or its residual value, an option that is valid only for tickets that meet the fare conditions for the possibility of a refund. (no-show not allowed) 

c. Virgin Atlantic

Virgin Atlantic has also waived its cancellation fee. You can use your ticket cost as a credit towards ticket purchase with the airline for your future travel before September 30, 2022. For booking made between 01 Mar 2020 and 30 Sep 2020, the airline also accepts ticket changes up to two times for free, provided you request it before 21 days of the scheduled departure. For changes, within 21 days of departure, a change fee and potential difference in fare is applicable.

If your ticket was issued before March 2020 but the origin date of travel is between 01 Mar 2020 and 30 Nov 2020, you can rebook your ticket with a change fee. The airline gets more generous, if passengers wish to travel between 12 Jun 2020 and 30 Nov 2020. It has waived any potential fare difference if the passenger chooses to travel on the same route and in the same cabin. If you choose to change your origin or destination airports, potential differences in fare may apply (but change fees will be waived)
